Objectives

  • Address Copilot review comments on PR #26
  • Harden crawler with filters, caching, rate limits
  • Ensure Phase 1 crawl finishability

Accomplishments

  1. PR #26 Crawler Hardening Implementation

    • 13 Copilot review comments addressed and all conversations resolved
    • Final commit: 779f9ef

  2. Technical Improvements

    • Safer low-signal filtering to exclude off-mission content
    • API compatibility restored
    • Compact cache implementation
    • Stricter exit conditions
    • Better rate limiting with bounded retries

  3. Design Decisions

    • README lookups treated as degradable signal (not hard-stop)
    • Weekly star snapshots saved to data/snapshots/
    • Rate-limit state logged for transparency
    • Partial failures recorded in metadata instead of blocking crawl

Results

  • Phase 1 crawls now finishable
  • Farnsworth receives usable JSON even with partial GitHub responses
  • Raw payload contract maintained
